Born in 1987, Tamer El Aswad is a Jordanian multimedia producer who is inspired by a long generation of artists and creatives, especially his grandfather, a 1950s pioneer photographer of Jordan's then young city of Zarqa. Tamer has also accumulated significant personal experience, and an eye for beauty in unexpected places, through several years of engagement in music, education and cultural platforms.
Committed to his life path, El Aswad's photography practice started off with documenting city spaces, then gradually turned to depict still life. Through his daily walks, wanderings and urban explorations, he captures a narrative of the city that can easily be neglected, and yet is so innate to its true nature that the imagery becomes common and relatable to its witness. His images seek to evoke ordinary life, observing common human behavior, the interplay between nature and people, and traces of time and habits within those quiet spaces.
